It doesn't surprise me that Vegas could have the highest suicide rate. To benefit from the sun, you have to be in it. Most of those casinos are designed so that you don't know what time it is and make it easy to spend your whole vacation there (not that I would want to spend my vacation inside a casino). I got on a bus once on a vacation there and heard a guy comment, "yeah, I've lost $200,000." I'm thinking to myself, "That's a house!" So yeah, it wouldn't surprise me about Vegas.
Just doing a quick 5 minute search, I was able find these stats, which aren't listed by city but by state. A quick glance shows that there are several states which are famous for being sunny (Florida, Arizona, Nevada) that are in the top 10. Washington is at #21 for the year they are reporting (2005).
now obviously there are a lot of factors contributing to unhappiness in different cities, crime rate, unemployment ec...BUT it does seem like poor weather, especially cloudy days and rain are a factor..

It's just surprising to know that the divorce rate in America 2010 has increased.
My world geography teacher said Seattle had the highest (or a high) depression or suicide rate because of all the rainfall yearround.
Don't you just hate when teachers/doctors/professionals of all sorts repeat unscientific myths? They ought to know better, but the reality is that they didn't always pay attention in class, and they fill in the gaps with hearsay, just like the rest of us.
