I know in Waco, the police don't even bother to catch them because the cars are too fast. I find it stupid how in Texas, they race on the most busiest streets.

This is very much true, in Houston, they race mostly on Westheimer and FM 1960, they are some of the busiest streets in Houston and earlier this evening, a teen was killed unfortunately on FM 1960; they suspect that he was at fault, racing with someone else.

Most southerners claim that NASCAR got it's start in the south when moonshiners would soup up their trucks to be able to outrun revenuers and the police (thinking Dukes of Hazard). And there are definitely a huge amount of drag racers in rural Georgia. Most of the guys I know there own, have owned or have worked on race cars.

Street racing was really heavy where I grew up around Hartford, CT, especially up and down the Merritt Parkway / Berlin Turnpike and Research Parkway area of Meriden.

I wonder if that's changed in the past 20 or so years?

In the Bronx people would street race every weekend at 1am at Hunts point. Not anymore, because now Cops are all over guarding it. Which that sucks lol.
