philadelphia is a culinary center for many new york restauranteurs who want to try a different market. therefore philly has some of the finest and most imaginative restaurants in the nation.

Not to mention the trend of actually more Philadelphia restauranteurs being lured to open in NYC - larger trend then the inverse in the last 5 years. Even some of the Philly replicated restaurants have played prominently as being NY and portrayed in movies - Budakan in Sex and the City (has been a staple in Philly for 15 years)
Plus 2 of the 5 Iron Chefs are from Philly (Garces and Morimoto) the other 3 NY - Morimoto was also lured to open a place in NY after his success in Philly. Starr out of Philly has expanded to AC and NY significantly over the last few years and was also lured to some of the new Vegas casinos that are still on the drawing board due to the economy
Honestly I still don't think Philly gets it's respect on the restaurant scene - per capita may actually be the best major restaurant city in the US

^ No Miami at all? Seriously Baltimore over Miami? =\
1. New York
2. Chicago
3. New Orleans
4. Los Angeles
5. San Francisco
6. Miami
7. DC
8. Philadelphia
9. Boston
10. Houston
11. Atlanta
12. Las Vegas
I don't know if that would be my official order, but you get the idea.
Really Miami for food? Parties yes, but food? I'd put Orlando over Miami for Food but I don't know that either one could make the top 10 list, I didn't put anywhere in Florida in my top 10 list. Of course Baltimore didn't make my list either. But of those 3 I'm fairly sure Orlando would come out on top.
The restaurant scene in South Florida is nothing at all. To put Miami over Philadelphia is utterly laughable.
I don't know about that man, Miami always gets the top-end restaurants that New York and Los Angeles get. Go to Miami Beach and tell me the restaurant scene is lacking.
