I didn't see Cincinnati on the poll either.
And I find it to be a more of a unique name than a place with "New, Saint, Fort, or San" in it because there are many of those, or the suffixes, "ville, burg/burgh, ton"
Fort Worth
Fort Lauderdale
San Jose
San Juan
San Francisco
San Deigo
San Antonio
San Marcos
New Orleans
New York
New London
Saint Paul
Saint Louis
Boston
Houston
Jacksonville
Louisville
Saint Petersburg
Pittsburgh
To a lesser extent "apolis"
Indianapolis
Minneapolis
Anapolis
I like the "apolis" names they sounds really cool and pretty original.
But yeah I like city names that are a bit original unlike the ones listed above! Besides the "apolis's" those still sound cool!
Cincinnati, beat that!
Also am I the ONLY one who feels that Honolulu is always completely FORGOTTEN in CD polls, and the same for San Juan, Puerto Rico???
And let's not forget "ington"
Washington
Lexington
Burlington
Arlington
Wilmington (the one in NC is larger than the one in DE, which was called Fort Christina under the Sweedes and Altea under the Dutch)
The best names IMHO are
(it's a rough list)
Atlanta (Most myhic and epic of all, the final bastion of civilization on the movie "Cyborg")
Phoenix
Manhattan
Cincinnati
Philadelphia
Seattle
Chicago (there's even a space colony called "New Chicago" on the old Buck Rogers TV series)
1. Albuquerque (somehow this city name have a nice rings to it)
2. Vancouver, WA (and BC =P )
3. Baltimore
4. Phoenix
5. Los Angeles
6. Syracuse (same as Albuquerque, nice ring.. People pronounce it differently like "Sair-cuuue" or "Sair-cease.")
7. New Orleans (I'm from Orlando, Florida and we call it "New OR-leans")
8. Atlanta
9. Seattle
10. Chicago
11. Denver
12. Anchorage
13. Honolulu
14. San Francisco
15. Minneapolis
My list of city names that sound powerful (in no particular order)
Washington DC (only if DC is included)
Atlanta
Cincinnati (my favorite on the list)
Dallas
Miami
Chicago
Phoenix
Boston
Seattle
Denver
Los Angeles
Tampa
Las Vegas
I tend to not like city names that have "san", "apolis", "ville", "fort" or the word "city" in its name.
