SF/Silicon Valley....more smart people; more wealth; more elegant wooded terrain along SF Peninsula; 280 fwy and many great mtn driving rds; enjoyable place to live/work daily; East Bay is a cesspool, like much of LA region

LA's Westside....attracts many of world's hottest chicks; better, more innovative overall grub; polluted air; great canyon driving rds, but no 280-like fwy; Santa Monica is annoyingly communist, like SF; Westside is a great wkend playground; rest of region is a cesspool very similar to East Bay

IMO, world's two greatest regions...if Silicon Valley didn't exist, would rather live/work in LA, as a refreshingly hedonistic capitalist ethos pervades Westside

Actually, the air quality in LA's Westside isn't bad. Much better than the air quality in the Inland Empire (Riverside, San Bernardino, Chino, Azuza, etc).

LOL! Would you prefer to live with the capitalist pigs on Wall Street who are now feeding at the public trough!!!!! Come on, these so called "socialist" empires on the so called left coast are actually centers of great innovation and business.

The USA would be in much better shape today if the SF Board of Supervisors or the Santa Monica city council had been steering the ship of state for the last 8 years. Look at the huge dump the so called capitalists (i.e, Bush, GOP) took on our country!!!!

bush was socialism for the rich. and even that is a stretch.

would argue that both are equally great in different aspects

many great driving roads in SF/Bay (mainly woodside and Silicon Valley) to test out $100,000+ sportscars before heading to the office

L.A's westside is in a league all its own when it comes to glitz and glamour , many hot girls come to that region ..rest of L.A is working class dump
