I have relatives in both, and I like both areas.

But, for me, the Bay Area takes the cake:

Im probably in the minority, but i would choose LA metro. It actually has some very fun, urban areas, and I prefer the weather (by the coast, not inland) and the beaches there.

Nothing against the Bay, which is great too...

Most people in the country could not go wrong with either and would often be an improvement to where they currently are, I think it is only residents of California who would nitpick...

Way better public transit in the bay, though...

The Bay, by a long shot. For one, it actually feels like a city.

I think the Bay for living day to day, but LA for visiting. Just my opinion after living in both metros.

It feels like a city, or it feels like an eastern city...?

Definitely the Bay Area. One of my favorites in the entire country.

LA Metro. Especially coastal Ventura, LA, or Orange Counties.
