The point is that Florida is not very dense as you claim.

Florida sucks!!!

The Dukes of Hazzard (rednecks) + The Golden Girls (snowbirds) = Florida

The only part of Florida that is livable is MIAMI

8th is still better than 4/5 of the states in this country, and only 1 spot behind the state it's being compared to in this thread...

It's pretty high up on the list... especially considering FL is a large state in land area, unlike NJ or CT or the others at the top of the list....

I agree with you. I strongly believe that Miami is the only place that is the best city of FL. If it wasn't for Miami. I would never go to FL.

The most fun I had on that trip was Turning Stone casino and then in Buffalo there were enough things to see and places to visit to be interesting.

But please, the snow is horrendous, and it's the snowiest place in North America, so that means living there would force people to dig and blow out snow constantly. I hate to do it the 2 or 3 times a year I do it in Jersey, let alone all winter long like upstate NY.

I could deal with it if I were in the Adirondacks and there were beautiful mountains with skiing nearby, but the tundra of central upstate NY is desolate.

Right, case in point - almost all indoors activities. Stay inside. Even Syracuse University has to play football inside, instead of outdoors, because it would be too cold and inclement to have an open air stadium. Kind of kills it for a crisp, autumn day. I like going to Rutgers games where the air is crisp and cool into November but it's not snowing, so we can tailgate, and while watching the game you can glance over to see the brilliant colors of the trees nearby,

like this:

...as opposed to this:

I'm not trying to bash Syracuse or Central upstate NY here, honestly. I'm just defending my claim that the winters in NY state are extremely harsh, more so than even the mid-atlantic, more than NY City, and this is a huge factor to consider when comparing Central NY to Florida. Really a huge factor. And while you may be accustomed to it and have learned to cope with it, most people would consider it rather extreme and not be comfortable with it. That's very cold and snowy weather there. It's like Canada.

I will gladly admit and state that in the milder months Central NY is beautiful and there is plenty to do. Finger Lakes and wine country and plenty of beautiful little towns, the Adirondacks are stunning all year round even in winter. But winter isn't so kind to the rest of the state outside the Adirondacks.

Then again, in the state of Florida, during the less extremely hot and humid days (from November thru around March) the weather is near perfect and there's much more to do outside without weather being a negative factor. So the weather issue between NY and FL is literally from one extreme to the other.
EXACTYL. It's not BRUTALLY hot in Florida ALL year. December and January feel pretty good. But I like HOT weather waaay better.

I think that a lot of people who are voting Florida, either live there or never have been. Florida is sick hot. Very uncomfortable weather. Very ugly geography. No mountains to look at, nothing. They have the beach. That novelty wears off.

Give me NY state any day. NY has beaches, mountains, lots of lakes, 4 seasons. Their cities have character, excitiement, and history. I wouldn't live in Florida if you payed me. For how cheap it is to live in Florida, if it were so great, you would think that they would have much more people in their cities and surrounding areas. Everyone I knew who moved to Florida, came back quick.

Florida has some ok things. I don't totally dismiss it. It is just not for me. I like an area with a variety. Not just flat everywhere. Borrrrring.......
Soooo, Florida dosent have alot of people on there surrounding areas??? I thought it was the 4th largest state? Dosent it have like 4 different metros that have over a million people??? Dont New Yorkers vacation down there ALOT. I mean P Didddy is ALWAYS throwing some MAJOR party in Miami, so even YOUR cities rappers and superstars make the long trip down to florida to see our NOVELTY beaches. And Florida cities dont have history??? And why is it no contest?? What is soooooo great about upstae that it would merit no contest?? And Florida may be sick hot, but at least it isnt DEATH cold. I dont think people are neccesarily flocking to buffulo to see -30 degree weather, and a dying economy. It's funny how New yorkers like to gas there state up, You guys might as well seperate NYC and NY STATE. NYC=GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD, NY STATE= MIGHT AS WELL NOT EXIST.

And New York is like living in a freezer, and NYC in the summertime is like living in an oven . 2 TERRIBLE extremes.
