I think Seattle has a better Downtown than Houston. Its a lot more interesting to walk around and check out sights.

I also definitely prefer the weather and scenery in Seattle to Houston. Except if it snows in Seattle, I dont like snow. LOL

But summer weather hands down Seattle.

Nothing can beat summer weather in Seattle. But the other nine months of the year, Houston has fabulous weather. Except for the occasional killer hurricane.

There are so many things that Seattle does better than Houston that it would just seem like gloating to list them all. Off the top of my head:

1. Make a good first impression

2. Attract tourists

3. Be photogenic because of spectacular natural beauty (mountains, water, forests, etc.)

4. Have residents who care about the environment

5. Create safe, clean neighborhoods (but not affordable ones)

6. Be vegetarian-friendly
No worries. Thanks.

Since you've lived in both places, I just wanted to get your perspective on the flip side - what things you thought Seattle did better than Houston.

If Seattle had 2m+ people, it would far trump Houston. Houston's advantage is a matter of quantity over quality.

Not with everything.

The Museum District size is mentioned, but many of the institutions are very good. I believe the Museum of Natural Science is the 3rd most visited in the country. And the Menil is considered to be one of the best private collections around.

Same goes for the Theatre District. And the Houston Grand Opera is the only opera company in the world which has won all: Grammy, Tony and Emmy awards.

The restaurant scene is usually ranked in the top 5-10 in the country by several different sources.

And the Texas Medical Center has the top-ranked cancer center in the country, as well as several other institutions ranked in the top 10.

And Rice University is a top ranked school.

I am actually one Seattle resident who loves Houston. I love the people, the food and yes the museum district is great. I always have a ball when I visit. But it sure is nice to come back home to this:

Yeah gotta go with AK but you're way wrong on that "Michigan". Stop pretending like you know so much--a statement like that makes it clear that you don't know anything about the places you're talking about. The people of Seattle are obviously not sore population losers.

Population wise. It's a larger city so comparing it to a mid sized city like Seattle would obviously put Seattle out of its league. But for a city its size, Seattle has enough to boast about that if it were much larger it would rank higher than Houston.

See above. And I doubt where I live means much of anything. If I were from Kashmir and said that the sky was blue, it would still be blue.

What I was saying is I don't think Seattle is completely out of it's league. Seattle does just fine being Seattle, to the point that there are plenty of advantages Seattle has over Houston. It's understood that smaller cities sometimes have features/amenities that larger ones don't, so I don't see your point. I think it's more the flavor of each city that isn't comparable.

I never said it means anything. If you never had a valid argument 3 posts ago, you're not still not gonna have one now.
