In this ranking in Forbes Magazine, it lists the most dangerous metros areas in the U.S. It is different from the most dangerous city propers. The ranking are as follows:
1. Detroit, MI 2. Memphis, TN 3. Miami, FL
4. Las Vegas, NV
5. Stockton, CA 6. Orlando, FL 7. Little Rock, AR 8. Charleston, SC 9. Nashville, TN
10. Baltimore, MD 11. New Orleans, LA 12. Baton Rouge, LA 13. West Palm Beach, FL 14. Charlotte, NC
15. Philadelphia, PA
Also, it cracks me up how 10 of the top 15 are in the south. LOL
Shouldn't Miami and West Palm Beach be in the same metro? I thought it was one continuous metro from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.
West Palm Beach is a long way from Miami, but the urban sprawl pretty much spreads from Miami to West Palm Beach (just drive up/down I-95 and you'll see my point). Miami and West Palm Beach are very different though....I'm no fan of either place, but WPB at least still feels like part of the United States.
Charlotte and Las Vegas' positions on the list are surprising. Pretty crazy that DC, St. Louis, Atlanta, and Oakland aren't on there at all.
Not really. DC has 5 of the 10 most affluent counties in the nation in its metro area if I'm not mistaken. Even on just the most dangerous city list, DC isn't always on the top 15. Some others already covered Atlanta and St Louis, but I've heard nothing but good things about their suburbs.
NYC1DAY... I never hear people complain about NYC crime anyway except for maybe Rachael when she's talking about her school. So I don't think anyone understands what you're getting at here.
Uhm...Im really surprised Philly's on the list...suburban Philadelphia is a GREAT place. Maybe its Camden, Chester, and Philly itself than really pull it down
The Population numbers they used for metro Philadelphia are off by 2 million people, thats a red flag right there.
These yo-yos have Philadlephias metro population at 3.8 M? Philadlephias metro is a legitimate 5.8 M. Seems they conveniently left out 2 M people of the Philadlephia metro which happens to have some incredibly safe suburbs. Does anyone have any reasons why Forbes would have Philadelphia metro at 3.8 M people?

DC has improved and is still improving. They still have certain neighborhoods that you have to watch your back and that shouldn't be a surprise because it's a large city. But the crime is overstated a bit in DC. The metro is even better.
This is a ludicrous list. I thought Metro Detroit was supposed to be among the safest metros in the country.
