Yeah, I never saw the movie though, so I don't know how it portrays the city. The movie Miracle takes place there too.

Summer: Chicago. They pack a year full of outdoor fun into 90 days.
Winter: Miami. Obvious reasons.

Gatlinburg has "low humidity"? LMBO Ive heard it all now!!! Gatlinburg is a most definitely humid. Not quite as bad as Memphis because of the cooler temps and elevation, but its most definitely a humid place. VERY humid. Unbearable heat and humidity in NYC???? Sure, a day or two here and there. But NYC's most extreme summer temps are average in places like Houston, etc. No comparo, amigo.

Summer: Chicago (tons of street fairs and festivals and of course, the lake!)
Winter: Los Angeles (sunny most days...low humidity...cool at night but 65-70 during the day)

Best cities to visit in the summer if you're trying to get away from the uncomfortably humid areas: Salt Lake City, Denver, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, Niagara Falls, Detroit, Minneapolis, Buffalo

Best cities to visit in the winter if you are trying to get away from the snow & cold: Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Miami, Key West, Orlando.

Best cities to visit if you want to experience the true winter cold & snow: Buffalo, Denver, Burlington, Chicago, Minneapolis, Fargo

Quite a few choices, but I thought I'd mix it up a bit. In all honesty, I prefer going north during the winter.
