If we take away the air conditioning, I believe the Sunbelt would be a very good tutorial for what Hell is like.
If we took away heating, the Rustbelt would be uninhabitable.
Of course, you could always go back to burning coal all over the place up there. You folks seem to like your "grit" so much, that could easily add several more layers!
