Thanks for the great suggestions. I love Madison, but if I were to move that far west from my family and friends, I'd go all out and end up in CO, Montana, Oregon or the like. CA is beautiful, but that state has too many issues right now, and too expensive. If I were to live in Oregon, I'd select either Bend, Eugene or Beaverton before Portland. Seattle isn't me at all, I come from a blue collar background, though I'm an educated business professional as well. It's too techie, IMO. I love Pittsburgh, and am originally from there, but am also considering trying out other "new" places before I go back. Newark?!! Why there? That plus is a dump, if you ask me. Boston is nice, but a little too liberal for my taste (I'm a moderate). If I were to go up to the far NE, it would be Vermont for sure, or Lake Placid.
What can you tell me about Itacha, NY? I'm not familiar with it. I love State College, it's always in the top rankings for small/mid sized towns, college towns, outdoor/sports towns, and the like. Even ranked top 5 by Forbes to start business and get rich, or to launch business. Thanks!

nycricanpapi, I'd say this goes 50/50! There are some very lazy NY'ers! And also many fit and ambitious ones. I see a lot of obese people in NYC who don't do much other than watch TV and eat ****ty food day in day out, while others walk everywhere and take better care of themselves.

Itacha/ Lansing, New York is also a college town within your state, houses the Ivy League Cornell University and also ( I think) Itcha College. It has a lot of more resort areas around, such as the lakes.. and may find similar to State College in a way. Also have large cities right above going across it ( a few hours to drive to the connecting highway 90, which will take you through many small/ medium size cities)
Now thinking twice, may want to even look into Marquette, Michigan... while Traverse City, Michigan is worth mentioning.
