Houston is the 3rd tallest skyline city.
Miami is the 3rd largest skyline by count of buildings.

However, I would still take Chicago any day. It outdoes NYC in height. Plus the new Trump Tower looks pretty wicked awesome!

Houston, Los Angeles, and Atlanta are all ranked higher than Miami even though Miami has a denser skyline, but all of those cities have taller buildings just less dense. With that being said, Miami's boom isn't over yet.

Yeah Chicago does out do NYC in sheer height. In total number of skyscrapers though NYC is quite a ways ahead.

It slowed down because of the recession. There wasn't near the amount of construction going on a few months ago when I was there compared to two years ago. But I am sure that will pick up again.

Yeah, it's nearly 6 times larger in the total number of skyscrapers. Which is a very large amount.

That makes sense so Houston doesn't have as many buildings as Miami but overall Houston's buildings are taller than Miami's thats interesting. I just can't wait until Miami gets that 1,000 plus footer though. Chicago's skyline is very impressive but you can't deny the density of Manhattan.

Miami will need to build at least 3 buildings over 1,000 feet tall to be able to compete with Houston & take reigns as 3rd tallest US skyline.

I see what your saying, I just can't wait until Miami builds it's first one though, I mean they've come a pretty long way for a city that has height restrictions.

If any city needs a 1000 footer, its Philly.

Yeah Chicago's CBD wouldn't near as dense as Manhattan, or as massive as all of Manhattan's CBD's combined. And that's just Manhattan, wait till you get a look of Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and to a FAR lesser degree Staten Island.

Density and massive amount of buildings is what NYC has Chicago beat on. However height is Chicago's stronghold, and it does a great job of rubbing that in NYC's face. Until One World Trade Center is complete that is. In this case, Chicago should get to work on financing the rest of the Spire to resume it's construction.
