well they usually go to world class cities if u look at that list, high refinement, high amenities. Had been out several times before but only living shortly and it is easy to see it is a completley different lifestyle than rest of u.s.. Maybe they view that as bad, but there is definitely a quality over quantity mindset... Numbers can be skewed, and people can talk of how it is different but, numbers are usually a pretty good unbiased way of looking at it though minus everybodies opinion, same reason i used how many people from the world are actually going there.
I mean 12 of the most expensive 50 zip codes in the U.S. are in the bay area.
thats 25% of the united states wealthiest zip codes, bay area only represents 2% of the u.s. population.
also the population is extremely educated, #1 in the nation among big cities
only thing higher among ANY city is fairfield county and boulder...
from being in other areas it makes a huge difference in the type of people you meet and what goes on.
Also, the majority of the Bay Area lives in a household that is headed by a foreign born resident. They are called Immigrant Stock. Immigrants and their US-Born children. In 2000, 3.4 Million Bay Area residents(roughly 47%) fell into this category. Im sure by now its over 50%.(Miami and LA were over 50% as of 2000, NY was 40%)

I suppose those figures represent wealthiest zip codes ( median home prices) which would make sense, after all The Pacific Ocean eats up 50% of your potential living space. Its a natural for ostentatiously excessive home values.
As far as salary and taxable income The Bay Area does not quite contain 25% of the countrys wealthiest zip codes. Not bad I counted 7 zips from Bay Area are in the top 50. Philadelphia 4 the most of any landlocked metro.

SF city I agree 100% sprawlish SJ as well, ridiculously educated by city standards. The overall region? No question its very strong but probably in with the rest of the pack of educated metroes including Boston,NYC,Washington,Philly.
no offense - but i asked you your age in another thread
just sayin 38 is old
Me? I don't recall you asking me that, but I'm 32. Not seeing what our age has to do with anything here though. And you're 38? Or are you thinking I am and calling me old? Not seeing how this connects to anything that was said here so maybe you could break this down for me.
