Golden Gate park has several museums, a Japanese Garden, several areas for festivals...It butts up against the bustling Haight-Ashbury district and Inner Sunset. There are also tons of concerts in the park in the summer.

It still can not touch Central Park. Central Park is just in another league.
I seriously doubt that, otherwise you wouldnt be saying theyre not in the same league. Golden Gate park is huge and offers tons to do from museums to nature walks to concerts to hippie drum circles to animals, to coastal ecosystems...everything from carefully manicured areas to wild untouched sections.
I could see favoring Central Park, but its ridiculous to say theyre not in the same league.

Because it's better known or because of more cultural events?
It seems entirely reasonable for people who have been to both to prefer one over the other since, despite the similar shape and size (with GGP somewhat bigger), the two have very different vibes and offer different amenities.
I also forgot to mention Kezar Stadium, the Conservatory of Flowers, the Music Concourse area, the Academy of Sciences, two lakes, the Bison Paddock, the windmills, the Beach Chalet, the amazing Tree Fern areas, etc...

You seriously doubt what? In my opinion Central Park is just more lively and offers much more than Golden Gate park. The park is not in the same league and neither is the city.
Seriously doubt youve experienced GG Park enough if thats your opinion. Ive been to both, and I could easily see saying you prefer one over the other.
But they clearly ARE in the same league. Both offer numerous attractions and are surrounded by an urban environment.

Actually I have, but its just hard to compete with Central Park or Manhattan as a whole.
