Omg who cares which city is better anymore? All this thread has turned into is a comparison of msa's and land area of cites that have nothing whatsoever to do wth Nashville and Charlotte. Yes Charlotte is more populous than Nashville and has a greater GDP. Good for them. Nashville exerts a much greater influence on pop culture than Charlotte. Good for them too. See? Now we're all friends. Moving along...
The thread really did have an interesting start. I think the OP meant well and wanted a comparison as far as progress and what moves are being made. It is a shame it turned into my "daddy can beat up your daddy" contest. Not to mention some posters got carried away with sarcasm.

I agree. I just think it's bad that certain people immediately wanted the thread ended because the two cities "can't be compared."
Trust me guys. My beef with this thread has more to do with the OP's activities on Charlotte's local forum before starting this thread. The OP clearly had an agenda when he/she started this thread.

If Raleigh and Durham were considered one MSA again, there GDP would be pretty much equal. I think that if there is an emphasis on population stats, perhaps economic stats should be considered. After all its people and money that make the city.
So Nashville can be compared to a city with 330,000 less people and Charlotte can't be compared to a city with only 150,000 people less than it.
yeah...
What? We just agreed that Charlotte and Nashville can be compared - they have been for 32 pages! He was just listing cities that, in his opinion, would be better comparisons.

Exactly...what makes Birmingham a better comparison when Nashville and Charlotte are closer in population and growth rate?
Anyway, the OP does not seem to be a Nashvillian...he doesn't post in the Nashville forum and his post history doesn't show any kind of allegiance to the city...
