It's a tossup between Huntsville and Greenville, with my personal prediction that it'll be Greenville. It's on the I-85 corridor between Atlanta and Charlotte, so it benefits from that growth, the BMW manufacturing plant is there, Michelin's North American Headquarters, and GE has a wind turbine energy manufacturer there as well.

I've witnessed the growth of Greenville/Spartanburg for almost 15 years now due to my travels in the region. This was a dead textile town just a generation ago. It's transformation is nothing short of impressive.

Like Wilmington NC, perhaps?

Yep, and the State is getting ready to deepen the channel so they can accomodate the larger ships that will traverse the Panama Canal soon after its expansion.

Things are really looking up for the Savannah region, but I still vote Greenville out of the cities listed.

That chart is two years old. Things have changed and not for the good for anyone.

Here's the latest numbers.

Thanks for the updated info.

Savannah's port has still come a long way in a relatively short period of time. As a matter of fact, if I'm reading that chart correctly, it looks like it has jumped from the 4th spot on the east coast to 2nd, right behind NYC.

I agree with the people who said Chattanooga will take off. It is an awesome city with tons of culture. Add to the fact that the new VW plant is opening amongst other industries, and it will take off. Also, the Charleston metro area isn't doing too bad if you don't count their port. Boeing is really helping it. Wilmington has been historically growing, but the economy has severely hurt it. If you are looking for a decent job in Wilmington, you might as well go to Raleigh because there are not any.

With the cities listed I said Greenville, although Huntsville was tempting. I've heard great things about Wilmington. Also Asheville could be up there too, same with Mobile.

Greenville for sure, being on I-85 between the booming cities of Atlanta and Charlotte and having a lot of foreign companies invest here. None of the others come close.
