The Atlanta version was constructed in 1897 and is 11 stories tall. The New York City version was constructed in 1902 and is 22 stories tall. Please vote for the skyscarper that you feel is a overall better skyscraper with everything taken into account. Pictures are welcome.

Of course it's more impressive...that was never the debate in this case. This stemmed from a discussion in another thread, one where someone claimed that NYC's Flatiron was the first steel framed skyscraper. But Atlanta's was built 7 years before NYC's and STILL wasn't the first steel framed skyscraper.
As for ornate, they are both very ornate buildings...as were most turn-of-the-century highrises.
I'd agree that the New York Flatiron is prettier, but it's not like the Atlanta one is the middle of sprawlsville, surrounded by 5 parking lots, 10 mcdonalds and a walmart. Fairlie-Poplar is a very nice neighborhood.
I don't think Atlanta's in a bad or ugly neighborhood--I just think Madison Square Park and its surroundings are fantastic.

Wow! I do NOT "hate" Atlanta. I'm just tiring of what this forum devolved into---an endless chain of threads that somehow involve Atlanta. Does nobody remember the dreaded days when I flooded this forum with threads about SCRANTON ad nauseum? I just can't quite comprehend why all of the Atlanta forum members are always so on the defensive. You hosted the Olympics. You have THREE skylines. You have a cool aquarium, Coca-Cola, CNN, The Weather Channel, and a huge airport. You're not a bad city, but the more and more I read from you ultra-sensitive Atlanta-thumpers the worse and worse my impression of your fair city becomes. If I wanted to join in on the "party" I could say how my uncle was mugged and carjacked at gunpoint in Atlanta from one of the post-Katrina trash thugs that moved up from NOLA.

This forum is WAY too tense anymore. The Atlanta people need to CHILL! So a couple of New Yorkers rag on you occasionally. BOO HOO! You know how often people slammed Scranton? It's just something you need to learn to live with. Atlanta is NOT Utopia, and anyone who tries to portray it as such is not mentally stable.
