I agree Chicago's downtown is somewhat cleaner, but why on earth would you compare Lake Michigan to the East River? Why not compare Lake Michigan to the Atlantic Ocean?
I think most folks would prefer an ocean over a lake. And if you're going to compare rivers, obviously the Hudson, not the East River, is the primary iconic river in NYC.
Atlantic Ocean? What's so special about it? The beaches in NYC suck compared to those in Chicago. And what's even more embarrassing is that Chicago's beaches are lake shores...not even ocean shores

Yes, and the beauty of NYC is that unlike Chicago, New York City isn't landlocked and so therefore residents are free to roam about the New York City metro, and in certain cases travel 25 minutes or so to explore the area's beautiful beaches....as opposed to the prairies of Illinois.
Long Island:
A lake.....lol.
(PS, there are better beaches than Chicago's "beach" in NYC areas such as Staten Island, but I'll just let that slide)

Not getting into this fight - but both of those pictures could be the Chicago area in a heartbeat.
In that case, Staten Island has better beaches than Chicago's "beach"
And I believe Staten Island is part of New York City. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Nice try tho lol.
Nice picture.
Personally, I think Staten Island is underrated. I realize that it is mostly suburban and so some people look down on the Borough. But, I would say that about 90% of the people, including most of the NY-NJ Metropolitian Area, that attack Staten Island have never really seen much of the Island.
At the very least, if Staten Island was a independent city, it would be recognized for having a great park system that is considerably larger than many other city park systems.

Is this picture in Chicago?
