What big cities (over 500,000) have downtowns that are like ghost-towns?

I'm thinking lack of resident inner city population, nightlife, shuts down at 5pm.

I can think of Los Angeles, but they seem to be improving. Any others that stick out?

I think Los Angeles comes to most people's minds. But I highly doubt if it's the worst downtown in the country.

Most have pretty quiet downtowns at night. Its much easier to name the most vibrant downtowns.

LA, PHX, San Jose, are probably the first cities that come to mind for cities with around 1 million people or more. Once you go under that the list grows fast.
