Buffalo NY, it has a city population of 261,000, and several nightlife districts:\
-Downtown, where most nightclubs are
-Elmood, packed with cafe's, bars and resturants.
-Hertel ave, many different things to offer.

Tallahassee, 180k, capital of Florida, most educated county in Florida, several universities, voted #2 behind Chapel Hill on best college cities for adults per Kiplingers.
Bit too small for my taste though.

FLL and West Palm are good pics but I see them in the larger SoFla metro

scottsdale and tempe are both around 250k and have really good nightlife scenes. They get my vote unless you want to disqualify them for being "Phoenix's" nightlife cluster.

Of the places that I've been, these stand out for me:

Boise
Boulder
Omaha

I am sure there are many others, especially college towns, that have good night lives for their size.
