haha! Both of those sound like a pretty good life!

I get it, NYC is great everywhere else is crap...I wrote something similar on the LA forum, but quite frankly NYC people talk to the point where they won't shut the f... up. In other parts of the country, especially the West we don't care period.. I grew up around Denver so yes I'm biased..FYI I could afford to live ANY where in Manhattan, and I mean anywhere.. i would choose Denver again. In response I have to agree that Denver is not in the same league as NYC in urban aspects, population, density,or many other factors. The fact does remain that while NYC is retreating in population,Denver is doing just the opposite. "Hey," I get it for those of you strict urbanites.NYC IS THE SH..! but for everyone in debate, if you could see what I see at the same Manhattan prices every day here in California or for much less in Colorado, it might cause you to just think beyond the city.

Wrong actually, New York City is estimated to gain an additional 1 Million residents by 2030, bringing the total population to 9.1 Million people.

NYC is so special yet folks have been trying to escape for over 50 years First they moved to the boroughs, then Long Island and Jersey, then CT and CA, then migrated south.. So many old neighborhoods turned over multiple times in 50 years yet the population is lower today as you state. Gentrification in Manhattan hasn't turned out the same positive results in quality of life in my old Queens neighborhood and anything for miles. I would never go back there again. You didn't seem to see the same degree of change in other major cities like Boston, where for example the North End retained much of it's Italian hertiage. Not a stretch to say more people stay in NY for career opportunities rather than quality of life.. In Denver they have a much more balanced life with the best of both worlds something many of us value as we get older.

Great schools, nice towns but I'd take a Boulder or Santa Barbara if you are an adult. The scenery, weather, the vibe, great eclectic downtowns, outdoor lovers paradise

New York's population has grown to 8.3 million up from 7.0 million in 1980. It has grown almost 1.5 million people in the past 30 years. Denver's population in 1970 was 514,000 and 2008 estimate 598,000. The rate of growth is similar to New York's. People need to get their facts straight and not assume anything. Also, show me a a city in the north that folks have not been leaving for so called greener pastures. All northern cities have experienced this. Denver's population has changed over the years also. The city once, not to long ago , was almost all white, now the city is pushing 50% minority. New York is not the only city where neighborhoods turn over. It happens in Denver also.

Because NYC is better than Denver

Obviously not for the 30% of people that voted for Denver. And I'm saying this as someone that voted for NYC.

Damn, you just don't get it and never will.
