I still think LA should be number 1. Based on the VARIETY of attractions. It has the city side(clubs, museums, theaters, density, public transit, etc) like New York, but then it has the NATURAL outdoors side( MANY mountain ranges and hills for hiking, camping, and snow-skiing, and MANY beaches for water activity), like Miami, then it has the THEME PARK side(Six Flags, Diseny, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm) like Orlando. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO other city has that variety. It's like NYC, Orlando, Miami and Denver wrapped up into one. What other city can you go to Famous clubs, go hiking, skiing, camping, go surfing, go to museums, and go to theme parks? I just don't see why it would be so arbitrary and blasphemous to place LA as number one of NYC and the others. Time Square had the mos visitors, BUT city vs city, LA had the most visitors. You guys are just comparing one attraction to one attraction. Which has the MOST attractions was the question. Why would LA being number 1 over NYC be so arbitrary?

Stop trying to rely on tokyo everytime TS comes up. Its not more impressive
TS is more impressive TO YOU, not to the rest of us. Give it up already, you're not going to convince other people that something is more impressive when they've already told you they did not find it to be so. YOUR opinion is not law. I know you're completely incapable of grasping an alternate point of view, but you gotta at least get that not everyone is going to agree with you. If we're not more impressed by it then its not more impressive to us, BOTTOM LINE.

Walgreens was where I entered it from, genius. Like I said, it looked cool as I approached but the novelty had worn off by the second block and I was completely uninterested (and disappointed) by the time I had gotten past the bleachers. Deal with it.

No, its not a stretch. TS gets hyped up as being something greater than it is. I know you struggle with the term "overrated," but when its made out to be something that it doesn't deliver on then it is exactly that. If I was told it was nothing more than lights/jumbotrons and billboards over chain restaurants then I would have been prepared for what it turned out to be. I was told it was fun 24/7 and there was always interesting stuff to do there, which was not the case. Its just the most major tourist trap in the US, and not much else IMO.

You got the right idea. Manhattan is still awesome tho; just not really Times Square. I'm pretty sure you'd have the same reaction I did. Dude's like this marveling at their city's hugest tourist trap and making it out to be something greater than it is are what misleads outsiders into thinking its going to deliver more than it does. When you hear all this and then go there its pretty hard not to be underwhelmed. Its cool to at least pass through once though just to say you've done it, and that's about it.

TS is overrated, it's not that impressive or something worth visiting more than once. It's been said by many people, both residents and tourists. Get over it and just accept the fact that many people are not "impressed" with TS like you are.
I think its hilarious that he goes on and on about how impressed the world is by NYC, yet he's the only one here who seems to actually be blown away by TS lol. And we all know he has no frame of reference to compare it to the other two. He just loves to argue in favor of NYC no matter how little experience he has with any of the rest of the world lol. TS is tourist central in NYC, but that doesn't mean its particularly interesting.

I am not even going to attempt to argue with a mentality like this.

Well overall, people are very impressed about NYC. NYC is 24-hours. You cannot find a city that is 24-hours like NYC...

Meanwhile, a beach person could spend a week or more in Malibu, Santa Monica, Hermosa/Manhattan/Redondo Beaches and never once come close to a movie studio. Art people have plenty of options with the Getty, LACMA, MOCA, the Huntington, the Hammer, the Norton Simon Museum, etc. There's tons for outdoorsy people as well with the Santa Monica Mountains running right through the middle of the city and the San Gabriel Mountains being nearby. Of course there's all the theme parks too - Disneyland, Knotts, Universal, Six Flags...you could make an entire vacation out of the parks and never really "see" the city of LA while you're there! LA offers such an extremely wide variety of things for tourists to do, that often times people's itineraries will vary greatly depending on their personal interests and what they want to get out of their visit to LA. In LA, you can have a city vacation, a beach vacation, a mountain vacation, or a theme park vacation. Or a little bit of each.

I'm just going to echo what has already been said, but there is NO city in the U.S., and possibly the world that is as well-rounded and so balanced as Los Angeles (unless your name is Dubai ). See the above posts for further reference. I don't see what the harm is in admitting that. [shrugs]

Yeah, no doubt. I'm very impressed by NYC too. Just not TS and a few other things that get hyped up too much. But there's no denying what an amazing city it is.

I don't know if I agree 100% with the statement in bold, as it can be interpreted in different ways, and I think as far as the classic urban amenities go NYC edges LA out. But as far as the thread goes LA definitely has my vote, even over NYC. It has more attractions that appeal to me personally, and I think it has the most in terms of sheer volume. I love LA!

People are not keeping it real on this forum

Its not that im incapable of accepting your opinion, its that i know your not checking in with the reality of it.

TS is exactly what it says it is,exactly how it looks on movies and tv- a big place full of lights and screens. Thats exactly what it is in person. If u came to ts expecting fine dining and such, than i dont know what to tell u. I never heard of ts being knwn for that. Going to a famous play and/or taking in the sights and vibrance is what ts is about and it delivers. It still manages to impress me sometimes and i worked in Ts before, was there everyday. Add on the fact that theres no one area like it in the united states. So no i dont accept that someone would not be impressed by TS. Its not logical.

Some places are niether overrated or underrated and TS is one of them, it is what it says it is period

And to the tourist of nyc, stop saying tourist trap(a word ppl use to try to sound cool btw). I've had plenty fun in ts with friends. Next time you "tourist" visit nyc your going to be "trapped" in times square once again. lol

Stop using shibuya as a trump card. A place with skyscraper trons, more videos and better looking lights(not just outdated neon) toppled with the fact that its New york doubled with the broadway shows speaks for itself. TS is the original all else are imitators no matter what city. Its not rocket science
