NYC, Vegas and New Orleans are my fav cities to visit.. because you can always find something to do 24 hours a day. I will move to move to Vegas someday.. that city is on an entirely different level of stuff to do 24 hours day.. no more comments needed lol
Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, and Mexico City. these are the big 4 from my personal experience.
I love to visit LA but they close the bars and nightclubs too early in CA. Vegas and Mexico City are way better party and 24 hour cities than LA.. same with New Orleans and Miami.
nyc is 24/7 off the fact that theres always a good amount of people traveling, working, playing through out the city at any given time. Thats why we have 24/7 transit
I don't think having 24/7 transit is exactly unique to a "24 hour city". Chicago has that, and let me tell you, it isn't exactly thriving at all hours of each day.
Unless of course you count gangs killing, beating, and robbing one another. In that regard, I guess Chicago is a "24/7 city".
I am a night time person (not a partier, I simply don't sleep much) and find the night-time options extremely limited in this country. LA has absolutely pathetic night-time options for being such a large city. Unimpressed with NYC and Miami. Vegas is the truest 24 hour city I've seen in the US but even then it's barely tolerable.

big clubs and bars close at 2 am, but smaller less popular ones don't close at all, there are plenty of "underground" clubs and bars. the 2 am last call is loosely followed among many nightlife joints, so in reality if you want to spend all night drinking, it is very possible to do among many bars and clubs here.
