I'm with Kidphilly on this one.
LA might have more "high end and world renowned cuisines" but NOLA has it's own culture of food. And that's more than satisfying.
Sometimes the simple things win out over the high and all mighty luxurious things.
New Orleans food isn't really all that. I'd rather have great Mexican, Chinese, Ethiopian food than fried chicken and dirty rice, stuff that I usually make everyday at home. And I'm getting sick of it.
