New Orleans still has the potential to become one of the greatest cities in America again. You can the see the shell there. Memphis, is a city that I love also so in a way they will always represent the true south. Atlanta is nice but do not have the sould these cities have.

Take away 1800s Yellow Fever and Atlanta wouldn't have much on Memphis.

Take away fresh seafood and the culture largely built on it and New Orleans woudn't have much on Memphis.

I love the positive perspective! Now let's leverage it to move Memphis forward!

Interesting, but Memphis can't persist with this sort of 'looking backward what IF's ' therein lies the problem with attempting to compare Memphis to Atlanta Georgia ! are you kidding ? the cities NEVER matched up.

Saying New Orleans culture was largely built on seafood is ignoring the terrible fact that Memphis culture is permeated with nasty greasy swine.

So I guess one is more effective than another. A city built on fine variated themes of imaginative food, fine service, and ambiance must be better than one built on strictly uni-dimensional BARBEQUE.

Yes, food is inextricably tied to 'culture'...even social class, tolerance, sophistication, LANGUAGE and even racial/ethnic acceptance.

Is there any doubt why cities that have truly great food, like Montreal, NYC, Rome, Paris, San Francisco, Chicagoland, Miami, NOLA, LA and beyond, also seem to be cutting edge and progressive , growth-oriented cities ??

Yep, Memphis has BBQ, fried chicken and chain food.

Now I am certain you don't actually believe the lies you speak. What a steaming pile of BS. Who are you trying to fool? Pound for pound, Memphis has better restraunts than most cities, especially its' size. Who wants to see a list of fine dining, so I can expose this troll as a liar or retard? Everybody tell us about your favorites!

Some cities I have found to have much better, true finer dining - some are smaller cities as well:

1) Charlotte
2) Savannah, GA
3) Birmingham/Vestavia/Shades Mountain areas
4) Mrytle Beach SC
5) Hilton Head
6) Kansas City
7) San Antonio
8) Vancouver
9) San Diego
10) Hartford
11) Richmond
12) St. Louis/suburbs
13) Sarasota
14) Orlando
15) Tampa
16) Phoenix
17) Denver (by a long shot)
18) Portland
19) Las Vegas
20 Providence
21) Newport (by a long shot)
22) Naples and FtMyers (by a long shot)

Please Name me two (2) fine dining, high quality restaurants (non chain)in the most expensive suburbs of Memphis, TN (that would be Germantown, Collierville and others east)

So by that logic you'd have no problem with BBQ if the pig was clean and not nasty?

There's 2 above. Uh oh, you're not only a world traveler, but now you're a world cuisine extraordinaire. Fun times in troll land.
