Would you think this is too close to MLK? We're going to look at an apartment there pretty soon but if it's sketchy I might cancel the appointment and use the time to look elsewhere.
Most of the MLK area by Larchmere is a hospital, I guess I was thinking more about MLK in the Woodland Hills area. I think that address might be ok. Google street view looks nice. Close to Rockefellar Park and Shaker Lakes. I say keep the appointment and see what ya think.

Agreed. Most of the cultural gardens are on Martin Luther King Drive, which is a pretty major road (it's one route from downtown to University Circle) with a bikepath and everything. I wouldn't worry about safety there as long as you're visible from the road and it's daylight. It IS pretty unsafe on either side of the road, so I wouldn't go exploring there, though certain streets just east of it are nice architecturally.

I cbf to cross-reference the addresses, but there was some guy on here last week ranting about a couple of the apartment complexes in Shaker Heights. Might be worthwhile to find the thread and make sure the one you're looking at isn't one of them.

Fairhill is a nice street. I wouldn't be too worried about that area. I used to have a friend who lived a couple blocks from there and he never had a problem. Between MLK and North Moreland, it's not until you get south of Larchmere, closer to Shaker BLVD, that the area starts to become sketchy. Larchmere and Fairhill are both safe.

Granted it's kind of close to some less-than-stellar areas to the south and west, so be careful which way you stray from your apartment, especially at night. But if you have some degree of street smarts at all, don't be too worried.
