Deride does not = Bad.

Race-ism has become a meaningless term, because it is generally overused, misused and abused.

The word's actual meaning:

Race = Common Descent. People share descent, to one degree or another, with others. Skin color is an obvious indication of how common/uncommon descent is between two people. Hence, it is "real."

Bigotry = Stubbornly Clinging To An Idea, Despite Evidence To The Contrary.

Bigotry, in regards to Race = Race-ism.

deride - to subject to usually bitter or contemptuous ridicule

I would say it's bad for someone to deride you.

racism
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

If people overruse a term, it does not make it a meaningless term. Besides, the term covers both ideas about individuals based on race, per definition 1, and attitudes towards and actions against individuals based on race, per definition 2. There is plenty of racism to go around in the United States, from and towards people of nearly any race.

By the way, your definition of race sounds more like ethnicity. Race is purely based on physical characteristics and shared interests and behaviors. Common descent or place of origin is not a requirement for people to be of the same race.
