Maine to Raleigh area, to.... (Wilmington: good schools, affordable housing, congested)

As you can see by my screen name, I was considering going back to Maine. I visited 2 weeks ago and realize I am not missing much. It was still cold in June, and I have def. acclamated to the warmer climate. It was nice to see family, but by the end of the week, I was arguing with those I thought I missed so much.
I do however miss the coast, and the Raleigh area is sooooo congested. Has anyone moved from Raleigh area to coastal area with some opinions (good and bad).
My husband's employer has a branch in Wilmington, so anything around the area with good schools and affordable housing would be interested in learning more about.
