I just got a temporary job that will probably last for a year working at the Brody School of Medicine. I won't have a very large salary so cost is an issue to be considered. I have a few potential places I have looked into but would like to know if anyone has more info on this area. I am looking for a one bedroom apartment and a safe area is important to me. I am in Greenville for a few days but need to make a decision fairly soon. So far I have looked into:
Brighton Park
Paladin West
Paladin Village
Ridgewood Place
Park West
Waterford Place
Most of the complexes in the medical district either have some shady people living there or in the high end and too expensive, like Waterford Place. Have you looked into Moss Creek Apartments (managed by Wainright Property Mgt.) in the Spring Forrest neighborhood? They're all 1 bedrooms, rent in the low $400's and are close to the hospital.
Driving around the area today that's kind of the opinion I formed myself and what made me look for opinions online.I had seen Moss Creek on the Wainright website but missed it when driving today. I'll be make another trip out today and check that out. Thanks.
Edit: Just called Wainright and there are no openings in Moss Creek. If anyone has any other locations I could look into please let me know.
Okay then. FYI: On SW Greenville Blvd. (directly connected to Allen Rd.) is a complex called Summer Green (formerly Brasswoods). It was built in two phases, with the front side being older and smaller. The back apartments are larger and modern. By themself, this complex is alright, but it is, however, about a quarter mile from Kristin, Frontgate and Peed Drives, Greenville's well-known drug haven.
Really it's not all that difficult to travel from ECU's main campus to the medical school, so maybe you can look into complexes in the neighborhood of ECU. Try the First St. and Brownlea Drive apartment complexes. Getting from ECU main campus to the medical is basically a straight shot down 5th. No big commute really.

About a 15min drive from those first street areas to BSOM.
My son lives in Willowby park, they are condo;s off Evans St. and they have several units for rent. It seems fairly safe. It's probably 50-60% students but it;s still pretty quiet. Good Luck
