Another small step of road improvement in Craven County. Can't wait until U.S. 70/I-42 upgrades actually happen.

A Brunswick County road damaged by Hurricane Florence is back open to traffic.

A section of East Boiling Spring Road has been closed since the September 2018 hurricane, but reopened to traffic Monday afternoon. The closure allowed the N.C. Department of Transportation to safely replace the nearly 22-foot deep pipe crossing and repair the damaged section of road caused by Hurricane Florence.

The Boiling Spring Lakes road was one of less than a dozen still closed by the September storm, but with its reopening eight North Carolina state-maintained roads remain closed throughout the state.

Well to be fair I do think the Southwest Bypass is going to be great for relieving some of the traffic in Greenville.

My point is that the State for years put as the priority to replace bridges that could have waited another 10 years while traffic has backed up more and more in the growing cities. The idea that the bridge projects are higher priority is a farce...its just a mechanism to say they are spreading road projects around.

As College Rd traffic remains at a standstill (with intersection projects/widening projects on the table)....the State is replacing bridges in Harnett/Columbus/Bladen Counties.

Yeah, because $4.7 million would totally solve Wilmington and Greenville's traffic issues.
