It's a presentation of the proposal by Publix.

Seems to me that Publix locates in a lot of places with retiree's...New Bern and Oak Island would certainly qualify.

The presentation was the possible redevelopment of old campground property, which is Oak Island Marketplace. ("Oak Island Marketplace, Oak Island, North Carolina.")

The council voted to amend the town's Code of Ordinances to define a grocery store and add grocery stores, spas and health facilities, sporting goods, shopping centers, pharmacy and proprietary stores, and garden centers and florists as permitted uses in the Commercial Recreation zone.

My point is that they are a Florida based chain, with stores everywhere in Florida. Florida is full of retiree's, so I don't see how anyone would be surprised when Publix moves into retiree centered areas of NC.

Honestly, as much as people talk about Publix's best attributes, it seems their model fits retiree's, many of whom are value driven consumers because of living off retirement income. Certainly families would also qualify.

Florida is also full of non-retirees, too. And Publix is opening NC stores in Charlotte, Winston, Raleigh, etc., which aren't retiree hot-spots. What do you mean by their "model"?
