Im a Bama fan if you havent noticed. I used to enjoy going to the games when they were played in Birmingham when I was growing up, that stuck with me and I became a Bama fan as a result.

I was born late in the Bryant era, so believe it or not he doesnt mean as much to me other than in a historic perspective, as Nick Saban does currently. I was a fan during the good, bad, and downright awful times. Ironically most of my friends either dont care about football or they are Auburn fans (including my younger brother who is also an Auburn fan).

While I will watch other SEC teams play. I dont like Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss St., strongly dislike LSU and Texas A&M, and absolutely hate Auburn. Talk about bandwagon fans, so-called Auburn fans came out the woodwork during the 2010 season. Most couldnt tell you what their record was the season before, much less the last time they won a national title. I havent seen more orange and blue since my last LSD trip.
Quite possibly the greatest line on the CD football forum for a very long time. Rep'd ya.

So, let's get everything in the open by stating what college you support. Note, I am not saying you had to have gone there, but what team do you like to see do well- and possibly even get aggravated if they do not do well? And no, do not state a conference or list more than one team. No one cares if your lil' sweetheart daughter went to Obnoxious State University that just happens to be good this year. And no one cares if you went to one school for a year, only to drop out and end up somewhere else. There has been too much talk about conferences and not enough talk about teams lately. And no, do not give me that bs about, "Well, I like USC in football, North Carolina in basketball, LSU in baseball, Arkansas in track, UCLA in water polo, Minnesota in hockey, Vasser in field hockey, blah, blah, blah." That is truly the ultimate in Bandwagoness Pathetico- a crippling ailment that affects far too many people.

What college football team do you support? If you care to tell us the reason why you support them, feel free. On another note, I think it is actually kinda cool to hear about why people like certain teams. I know one poster went to Wofford and I thought that was interesting as I remember beginning graduate school at University of Tennessee- Knoxville and going to a baseball game where they played Wofford. I found out that day they were called the Terriers. I looked up some info on Terriers afterwards and I have been pretty set on getting a Boston Terrier since.

I'll go first- Oregon Fighting Ducks- Quack, Quack!

Graduated from the school and pretty much owe all my money to them for a million years. I actually grew up a huge Arizona Wildcat in a household where the USC Trojans were king- father was an SC man (we had family in Zona). I actually remember going to an Oregon-SC game in like 1987 and cheering for the Trojans- yeah, I feel dirty everytime i think about it. Wife is a Longhorn where she graduated with Honors from the Honors school, but i have converted her to the Darkside and she roots for the Ducks- probably to keep me happy. During the Fiesta Bowl the Ducks came out of the tunnel and we all cheered. My 8 month old daughter, who pretty much claps after any sign of excitement, sat there stone-faced. K-State came out and she began clapping (probably doesn't help that her nursery is purple). I have my suspicions about her. She has another chance next year to get on board or we will have a serious talk.
Oklahoma Sooners: "Sooner Born/Sooner Bred and when I die I'll be Sooner dead."

Reason: from Oklahoma, great tradition/history/storied program with storied personalities

After viewing the last few posts I think it is safe to say that a few individuals here didn't get the above memo.

So, let's get everything in the open

OK, let's try this again. Re-opened.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish. I grew up in Minnesota, not exactly a college football hotbed, with no real rooting interest in the college game. I didn't really watch any college games and didn't care. I mostly just watched the BCS bowl games. Well in the first year of the Weis era I began watching Notre Dame games on Saturdays because they were always on. I became hooked. I loved Brady Quinn and he became my favorite college player. I loved Jeff Samardzija and Tom Zbikowski. I was hooked even whenth bottom fell out of the program in 2007 it didn't matter.

Living in SEC-land a lot of people at work expected me to be depressed or embarrassed with the NCG results but why should I be? 5 years ago we had Charlie Weis as our coach and we won 3 games. This year we won 12 games and made it the big dance. We have a top 3 recruiting class in coming and some solid pieces returning next year. For the first time in my fanhood the needle of the program is pointed upwards. Yeah the result of the NC wasn't what I had hoped but there's no shame in losing to a superior team and moving on. The future looks brighter than the past.
