I think you should base your major on job oppotunities, marketability and lastily money.I would like to study what interests me theater, religion or fine arts degree however, the reality is there are not jobs and I don't want to go to school and endup in retail.
I am very confused what my ideal major is. All of my work exp is in entry level customer service at various call centers. I hate call centers and this promoted me to go to school. However, My interests are Criminology, Psychology, and anything related to abnormalities of the mind that lead to criminal acts. However, I am scared about getting a job, with no exp in any of those areas and I am now thinking of majoring in business which I think I'll hate learning about, but feel more positive about getting a job in?? What should I do?
Thanks
Melanie
Major in something close to your interests that you have a good chance of making money in. If you can't think of anything that gives you a good chance of getting a good job that is related to your interests, then major in something for the money and use that money to fund your interests. You might have a job you hate, but if you have no chance of getting a job in something you love, then you will still have a job you hate, plus you'll be broke.
You should base what you major in on your interests. But you should base how much you pay for that education on your expected return once you graduate, especially if the method of payment is loans.

If you chose based on money without liking that area, u will probably still live your whole life chasing that money and hating it. But if u want to be rich, I recommend not going to college. There are no majors on becoming rich, only being a good employee, that major is free and learned in the school of hardknocks.
