I agree there are lots of vets who need help but the government isnt interested in paying money to help them. It is a shame.

That has to change. Vets are committing suicide due to the lack of help. The gov't is treating them like throw-away people. This is outrageous. The public shouldn't stand for it; it's our tax dollars that contribute to a system that's willfully and systematically neglecting people whose only "crime" was to follow orders in the service of their government. There are efficient and effective solutions to PTSD; it doesn't have to be expensive to treat. The way vets are being mistreated and neglected is a crime.

I think that also with either degree, internships can really help with getting into what you want to do. I am currently working on my MSW but I know that I do not want to be a therapist/counselor so I have tailored my internships more towards what I am interested in doing, which is more in a hospital type setting. If you want to work with the VA or similar type organization, then definitely try to get an internship with them. Also, I'm not sure where you live but I have a friend that works for Wounded Warrior project in Pittsburgh if you would want to talk to someone that works for them and find out more about it, I'm sure he'd be willing.

You are absolutely correct.

The gubmint's cure for that is to run IHeartRadio ads on the radio imploring employers to just "find" job openings for soon-to-be unemployed soldiers. As in they are trying to wash their hands of them, period.

That sounds like to me that OP needs to spend grad school cashmoney elsewhere or be resourceful enough to start a website of some sort to link employers and vets together.

Treating PTSD in vets really doesn't have to be costly at all. And there are a few vet centers that are thinking outside the box, and are looking at "alternative" treatments that work. We may see the situation change for the better by the time the OP gets done with his education.
