I've in my third semester of my graduate program but have the potential to start a full-time job. I need three more courses to complete my degree. Do you think it is possible to complete this last semester taking three courses while working full time, or would I be better to take two classes in the spring and finish next fall?

Do you have other family commitments? How demanding will your job be? How much do you value your social life for the next few months?

I easily managed 2 classes a semester while working full-time and raising 2 kids and caring for my wife who was ill for over a year. As a matter of fact, that's when I had the best aggregated GPA.

If you do well under pressure, you should be able to bang it out. But it all depends on just how demanding the rest of your life is.

Depends on the grad program.

Depends on your work schedule.

Depends on your family (if applicable) schedule.

There's no way that we can answer this question better than you, especially considering you've been in the program several semesters.

Wow, husband of the universe award. I'm married but no kids, and no social life. My wife actually works a lot, so I'm usually home during the day and then class at night.

I did it one year. It was hard, very hard.

Don't do it. I did that and almost went insane. It is not worth the stress. If you can afford it, then wait until you are finished with school. When you first start, you'll probably be on probation and in learning mode for the new job, and it will really interfere with school.

I agree. I worked part time, did grad school part time, had two young kids and an involved spouse, and I STILL thought it was hard!

The only reason I would consider it is that its just one semester that I would have to bite the bullet. I have no thesis or research work, just classes. The full deal is I applied for a fellowship that requires I finish by August. If I don't make it to the next round, I have no problem cutting my courseload to part time.

Fellowships typically mandate that you cannot be employed anywhere else while on the fellowship. You should check into this part first before even considering a full-time job offer.

The fellowship is a full time position for two years, but I'm considering the job because it isn't guaranteed and a ways away.
