If you want to learn more about Colorado, try to get around more... with help from parents, siblings, organized groups, public transit, fellow students, etc. And by picking a few local newspapers to read to get to know them and if you would like them any better than where you are. And use google maps / street view to see the state virtually in millions of snapshots. Thousands or tens of thousands of threads here too to read in general or for specific information. If you want the information, keep going for it.

Yes, good advice.

But, Much of Colorado is pretty brown

Take advantage of $39 fares and make a travel loop to other states that might work.

Mixed race is very common on left coast.

CA generally is higher CoL, but has areas outside metro that are reasonable.
If you are a high earner, it has high taxes ( they are not so bad if you are poor)

OR would be my last choice, (very 'trendy', poor school funding, expensive rents for lower pay, high taxes, 'group think' is very much like Colorado, I am polar opposite of 'follow-the-crowd') but it may be your first choice, check it out 2 hrs by air.

WA has more diverse economy, terrain, climate & higher wages, no income tax (high CoL near Seattle), free FT college instead of wasting away in High school.

Lots to consider, but race will be way down the list on left coast, no one will ask or care. Non-issue in 99% of locations.
