I can see this one. Yesterday looked like two distinct plumes of smoke, like the fire is spreading on the edges.
We were up on the Grand Mesa kayaking and the smoke was bad up there too, even at 10,000 feet.

Pine Gulch Fire 12,608 acres. Expect fire activity to increase over the entire fire perimeter as the winds pick up in the afternoon. Expect torching and spotting as the fire moves towards the north & northeast. Watch for wind/slope/canyon alignment as crowning and high rates of spread are possible. Probability of ignition is 85% with spotting distances of 2000 feet possible. 1 hour fuel moistures: 3% 1000-hour fuels are 10 % and live fuel moistures are at around 80%, ERCs are at the 90th percentile.

MM111 firethe Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire and Aviation Management Unit responded with the Glenwood Springs Fire Department to a wildland fire on Interstate 70, just west of Glenwood Springs. Pre-evacuations were ordered for the Ami's Acres area and remain in place. Interstate 70 had brief closures due to air operations and have recently reopened. Resources from the nearby Pine Gulch Fire were able to assist with local, state, and federal resources. The quick response and teamwork made significant progress during initial attack. The MM111 fire is estimated at 30 acres and 30 percent contained. Two Type 1 helicopters, local, and federal engines supported today's efforts. The cause is currently under investigation and the Upper Colorado River Interagency Type 3 Team will remain in command through tomorrow.

I-70, Eagle County mountain pass closed as wildfires grip Colorado's Western Slope

https://gazette.com/news/i-70-eagle-...43cfb87d1.html

"The Grizzly Creek fire continued to burn along Interstate 70 five miles east of Glenwood Springs and kept the roadway shut down as firefighters worked to contain the blaze Tuesday, officials said.

Evacuations have been issued for the Coulter Creek area, according to a tweet from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

The interstate between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum was shut down with no sign of reopening as more than 120 firefighters worked to build a containment line around the fire, which had burned 3,200 acres as of Tuesday.

Cottonwood Pass Road in Eagle County is closed until further notice, according to a social media post by Colorado State Patrol. Cottonwood Pass Road is a mountain pass between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum.

Officials are asking motorists to not use Cottonwood and Independence passes as detours.

Residents in No Name and Lookout Mountain were evacuated Tuesday, according to Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters focused on creating containment lines around the No Name drainage and north side of the Colorado River on Tuesday, but the rugged landscape limited the areas where firefighters could safely work on the ground, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Air support is also being used.

The cause of the Grizzly Creek fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters prepped to protect nearby structures should the fire reach them.

Firefighters also evacuated campers and other people outdoors from Coffee Pot Road and areas near Hanging Lake.

Another West Slope blaze, the Pine Gulch fire 18 miles north of Grand Junction, reached 36,449 acres Tuesday.

That fire started July 31 by lighting, officials said.

A team of 589 firefighters worked to contain the blaze. One abandoned structure was burned Sunday afternoon in the Kimball Creek drainage.

The fire, which is moving south, was 7% contained as of Tuesday.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation order for residents on Roan Creek (204) road, Clear Creek (211) road, Carr Creek (207) road and Brush Creek (209) road on Sunday night.

Garfield County issued an evacuation order for residences on County Road 202 on Saturday. A closure is in effect on Roan Creek Road (204) at Kimball Creek Road (202), according to the Sheriff’s Office."

Pine Gulch fire near Grand Junction, near 60,000 acres 658 personnel 7% contained. Evacuations in place.

The Grizzly Creek Fire ignited on August 10 along Interstate 70 in lower Glenwood Canyon. The fire is burning in oak scrub, mixed conifer, and aspen. The fire's growth is fueled by fuels, topography, and weather. Drought conditions have created critically dry fuels that are very receptive to fire. Interstate 70 is closed due to firefighting efforts occurring on and along the interstate, as well as rocks and other debris rolling onto the roadway.

The community of No Name, Lookout Mountain and Coulter Creek areas east of Glenwood Springs were evacuated today.

Nearly 5,000 acres 238 personnel 0% contained. I-70 closed near Glenwood Springs.
