GSP, I think your comments are spot on about a master plan and perhaps light industrial.

And no, I don't think we need additional housing of any sort, be it apartments, condos, or SFR. We have an oversupply right now so the type is irrelevant to me. Just because there is a creek doesn't make it a good residential site, especially if it's a flood zone. Additional new construction will extend the supply issue. I believe in looking at the big picture and we'd benefit more from creating jobs and enticing more new business than building more housing. I don't think they've even sold out Rosewood Hills yet and it's close to there.

Default Wal Mart Wal Marts Everywhere a Wal Mart

Looks like we will become Wolumbia......I cant say that a North Main Street Wal Mart Express would be bad.. it may actually stimulate development

All Walmart is doing is beating Dollar General to a few spots with their smaller, more targeted stores.

I don't really care for Walmart, but if they replace a vacant building then I have no problem as long as it fits into the urban fabric and isn't a suburban type store.

I emailed this sentiment to the mayor and city council. The article in yesterday's paper sounded as though an extension of the urban design overlay to include peripheral commercial corridors within the city is eminent.

No Walmart for this site, but looks like a mixed-use development is planned with market-rate apartments (no private student housing) and retail. Hopefully the third time is the charm.
