They got roundtrip for two, BOS to CLT, Fri to Mon, for $380.00 ($190 ea). She said BOS to COL would have been $180 ($90 ea) more. To me for one person, I would have paid the $280.

I would have, too, unless the flight times were much more inconvenient (which is a possibility since there are direct CLT-BOS flights). Even so, the expense and hassle of renting a car would probably tip the scales in favor of CAE for me.

I think many CAE defenders say well the extra is worth it for the convenience. While I agree for one person (and is what I personally do), that cost effective argument goes out the window for more than one person especially for a pleasure trip.

I will be going to BOS in the next few months and I will go from CAE.

I have noticed that Delta often flies what appears to be 717 into CAE vs US Air now American which flies those commuter jets...i wonder if American will now fly the MD80s in more now that they merged. Flights to DCA are always full....but i guess the size may be more because of capacity issues at DCA than demand into CAE????

There was an article last week that said American will soon start flying largest, two-class jets on the CAE-DFW route.

Interesting.. is that a factor of demand to DFW and its connecting points west from CAE or do they simply cut back service and fly fewer planes but provide larger ones? For example, I like the frequency of service in and out of DCA to CAE.... and would not like to sacrifice that for fewer flights and a larger jet with first class accomodations in return... I like the flexibility more and would tolerate the cattle car......

The article said it was because of increased demand. Same level of service, just bigger planes.

I just booked a flight on Delta to NYC direct flight from CAE to LGA for 213.00 roundtrip! It's on a CRJ, but those really don't bother me too much.
