We booked flights to Montreal for NYE and the tickets were slightly cheaper out of Columbia than Charlotte. That's rare but not unheard. We got nicely priced tickets on a good schedule out of CAE.
I honestly don't see the huge difference in individual tickets most of the time. I can normally fly to DC or NYC cheaper, faster and easier out of CAE than out of CLT. It is when I go west or go to another mid size airport that prices seem to deviate. I am honestly at a point in my life where driving an hour and a half, parking miles away to save a few bucks and taking a shuttle to the terminal are not worth saving a few bucks. I have never had such a compelling price difference out of Charlotte that it would be worth the money savings. There have been a few instances where I would save enough time to make it worth my while to go through CLT. Honestly, most people complain about prices in Charlotte because American has a huge monopoly on that market.

I few to Toronto one-way through IAD, and it was faster and cheaper than any flight out of CLT.
I wonder how long before Columbia can get that international status on our airport. Even if it's like one out of the country flight Columbia to Canada i would be happy to see us have an international Airport.
It's sad were the capital of the state and every smaller city in our state has an international airport.

No airport in SC has direct international flights, even the "international" ones. That designation is essentially meaningless.

I thought Charleston and Myrtle Beach are International Airports? MYR I believe has direct seasonal flights to Canada... I am not sure about Charleston unless its Air Cargo.
