I'm hoping that as space between Hampton and Laurel becomes scarce, some of the building owners between Gervais and Hampton will retrofit their lobbies to accommodate stores or restaurants. They did this in Charlotte by adding a Carolina Ale House to the base of the Grant Thornton building. I sincerely doubt any of the buildings on Main could accommodate such a large retrofit, but certainly smaller spaces would be feasible given adequate demand.
The lobby of 1441 Main was retrofitted rather successfully IMO.

The outdoor dining is such a great way to engage the sidewalk. All of the buildings are set back, so restaurants are probably the most natural fit.

Yep and I like how the clear glass visually opens up the lobby, which was redesigned/redecorated nicely.

I havent been in the lobby of the capital ctr in some time but from the outside it seems like a perfect location for an urban Target Store similar to what is in many major cities.

Some Downtown Leaders Upset New Connector Bus Not Slated to Stop on Main Street | Local & State News | free-times.com

To be fair i think one running down Main would be nice. But i think an actual trolley running down Main would be better. But that's for the future future.

That much is obvious, but does it appear as though they are on schedule? Anybody have any pictures of the progress?

Not sure about the boutique hotel, but when I asked a month or so Go they told me the bowing alley should be open in September/October.
