Why are you torn? Road diets are great ideas, especially in cities like Columbia that have more road capacity than necessary. South Main is a textbook example of where road diets make sense.
Yeah that section of main street is super wide.. I don't know if it even sees that level of traffic.. 66' is very wide.. It should resemble the northern stretch of Main Street north of the Capital.. atleast in the blocks represented by the study area. To date its been sort of a no mans land in between USC and the State House...
So renovations are being done on the Law Range building on Main St across from courthouse. If I remember that's suppose to be a gourmet grocery store!!!!
Edventure also Getting Cool Reno/ Boeing 757 Cockpit on side of building
Utilizing a grant from NASA, Edventure is adding a flight exhibit which includes a cool addition to the building that everyone driving by on Gervais will see, a Boeing 757 cockpit jutting out from the superstructure of the building! There's a video of it on TheSTate.com

I had to look that up- totally forgot about the announcement. As a reminder, it's at 1712 Main Street. This is great, it will be the only grocery store within walking distance (Publix in the Vista is a bit far).
Ok so Cannon Garage has those open spots on the bottom for retail and stuff. I saw them fixing up the one at the direct corner of Taylor and Sumter st. There's a bunch of equipment inside they've been working on it for about a week now. Anyone knows what's going there? Would be nice for a restaurant or bar there.
