I would try air B&B or type in furnished rentals in Columbia, SC. There are several companies who maintain corporate long term apartments locally.

Won't consider air B&B for lack of privacy.
"corporate long term apartments", probably pricey, not that i cannot afford but prefer not to spend too much on rent.

Why would an AirBNB not be private? Many are entire houses or apartments/condos.

There is a public FB page you might want to look at:

Columbia, SC Rentals, Apartments, Housing, Rooms, Sublets, Roommates

I’m not sure of anything aside from taking over a student’s lease. Check Craigslist or roommate finder. There are qualifications to stay in a student apartment. Also very little privacy. Another option would be an extended stay hotel. You can also ask some other hotels if they do monthly rates. Always ask to speak to a front office/desk manager or a sales manager. They are the ones who can authorize a decent rate.
