“Giving people what they need to thrive and succeed…”

How do you give people a work ethic? Because that is all you need to thrive and succeed. I don’t care where you come from, your race, social status, family history, etc….. As a business owner and employer, I reward work ethic. I look for people who are willing to put in the extra effort. And when I find them, I try like hell to keep them.

Work ethic. That’s what it’s all about. It will be rewarded.

Some people are raised without a concept of what “work ethic” means. Counseling/teaching/training through programs outside of the school setting from parents to children to teens, etc., can work to get potential employees up to par when obviously in some instances all else has and is failing.

This is not an endorsement of anyone for mayor, but “giving them what they need” doesn’t mean giving anyone something for nothing. The recipient of the assistance has to put forth effort, and work to succeed, and in most cases they have to be deemed suitable for such programs in the first place.

There are also income barriers to getting to a point to be hired and ready to go to work or to even get there. Programs designed to help people overcome socioeconomic disadvantages isn’t socialism.

That whole video is edited to death, repetitive, and disingenuous to the core.

Interesting. This post is coming from a person that just joined the boards in November and posted a video that the poster uploaded to a brand new YouTube account and page (with no subscribers).

Let’s be honest. Criticizing CRT, which doesn’t even exist in schools, is just an excuse for White people to try and erase historical facts. Just give it a couple years and the statement “Enslaving Black people is wrong.” Will be some sort of “radical communist CRT that shouldn’t be uttered” if white conservatives have their way. The same people in this thread insinuating that Black people are somehow inherently lazy, excuse me, lack “work ethic” are the same people that refuse to acknowledge that certain groups are born with far less opportunity, and have to work twice as hard to achieve financial stability, solely because of the color of their skin. These are facts that conservatives are trying to erase by blaming “CRT”.

Partly true except you have the political party wrong. Keep in mind that while slow, black wealth and land ownership was steadily increasing from emancipation until the mid to late 60s. The democrat party put itself out there as the party of “equal rights” and “affirmative action” in an effort to swing the black vote their way. Many entitlements and social programs were created (by democrats) that enticed the black vote. But it all backfired on people of color. Once you (as a collective group) surrender your power and vote for entitlements, you become dependent on that party for continued support. But now the initiative to improve yourself has been lessened. You can rely on government for education, daycare, food, housing and healthcare. Actually, what happened is the need for a strong nuclear family unit has been dissolved because the government is the primary breadwinner in the household. Thus, a new type of dependency is created which makes it difficult to break. Now, generation upon generation has changed the culture. Government dependency is now the cultural norm. Conservatives Or Republicans didn’t do that. If you need further evidence, just look at traditionally democratic controlled cities like Jackson, Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore. Infrastructure is crumbling and crime is rampant.

So while I agree with your sentiments, you’ve got your political parties mixed up.

Only a small percentage of people are welfare-level government-dependent. A certain percentage of them can be reached through government programs that so many call hand-outs. And living in such dire-strait conditions and being in need of assistance to get a leg up knows no race.

Exactly. Black people were shut out of so many institutions to build wealth like homeownership and the GI bill for example.

So please explain how black property ownership and wealth grew consistently from emancipation until the late 60s. What happened to slow, and eventually reverse that growth?
