FWIW: I found the LinkedIN profile for Costco's VP of Real Estate Development. I am looking for his contact information as well as other people within their Real Estate dept.

UPDATE: I just called Costco's Corporate office (425-313-8100). I asked to speak to an operator and requested to talk to their Real Estate Department. A direct number to the real estate dept was not available so they transferred me. I spoke to Wanda and told her that I wanted to get Costco's attention. She said that Costco uses a broker (Northwest Atlantic Partners) who handles all of their real estate business. She gave me his name and phone number. I told her that there is a developer here (JMC Flat Rock, Chris' company) that just bought land for a hopeful future Costco. I SPECIFICALLY asked her if JMC would be the ones that would be talking to the broker. She simply said "Yes". I asked her if the name and phone number she gave me could be something I could share with the public and she said no. She DID say however that people could call the Real Estate Dept and THEY would give out the name Imagine Costco getting a lot of phone calls from residents of Columbus.

The name and number she gave me would be who the petition would go to.

If the petition does get set up, it might be good to see if the Ledger Enquier could get involved by possibly posting about it on their Facebook. Just a thought....

Did you want the email of their Real Estate Broker for Georgia?

It looks like change.org seems to be the most reputable online petition organization. Does anyone have any other thoughts?

Sounds good! Just make sure it's well promoted so it has lots of signatures.

I emailed Tony Adams over the weekend. He was the LE person who authored the 3 articles regarding Costco coming here. Even he said he is interested in having them come here. He said he wants the petition info when it's available, as well as the info for the broker (I will give him their corporate numbers email as they said the brokers number is not public information). He also requested the Columbus Costco FB page link. I have that to him as well.

I will start in the change.org petition later today when I get home.

No problem! I am hoping Tony would be able to write a story about it and post it on Facebook. That way it can be *SHAREABLE* and can reach a lot of people. I will tag Mayor Teresa in it as well. I will also see if I can get a local news station (WTVM, WXTX?) to run a story (or two, or ten) about it. Does anyone reading this have a POC for them?

It does not sound like we are too high on Costco's radar. Other than a petition and having residents call them, I am not sure what else can be done.

It sounds like that's the case but I wonder if everything the developer heard was correct? I kept hearing they were looking at our area and you kept hearing of people who claimed they were coming. Maybe Costco hasn't disclosed all their plans to the developer yet? I know these businesses aren't exactly forthcoming until their plans are set in stone.
