That's what I'm interested in. Stars and Strikes would be a wonderful addition to the city and a great use of that area.

That's what they say.... we won't know until they announce, but I think everything's coming along as planned.

A nearly 24,000-square-foot “lifestyle center’ is planned on the eastern end of Whittlesey Boulevard at Columbus Park Crossing, with West Georgia Eye Care Center opening a satellite office as its anchor.

Construction on the center at 6596 Whittlesey Blvd., adjacent to Homewood Suites by Hilton, has just begun and should take about 10 months to complete. City building permits value the work on two buildings — one 16,600 square feet and the other about 7,000 square feet — at just under $3.8 million. Brasfield & Gorrie is the general contractor.

The project belongs to West Georgia Eye Care Center, which bought five acres of land at the site, paying $895,000, according to city real-estate records. The center itself is rising on about two of those acres.

Mark Holloway, practice manager for West Georgia Eye Care, said the development is aimed at meeting the increasing demand for services in Columbus, and doing so in an area of the city that is growing. The popular Columbus Park Crossing area offers ease of accessibility, he said, as well as increased visibility.

Great project for that area. Looking forward to the major addition on the southside of the development to be announced.

Sounds like a great addition, I'm assuming they are moving their operation over there or are they expanding?

Willy's Mexicana Grill and Eyement are coming to the Columbus Park area....
Quote:
Columbus-based Adams Brokerage Co., which has been constructing pieces of the large development at the intersection of J.R. Allen and Veterans parkways, is preparing for another small center on Whittlesey Boulevard.

Already signed is Willy’s Mexicana Grill and Eyemart, said Wes Lewis, senior vice president and asset manager with Adams Brokerage, with the new structure going next to one that now has Panda Express, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Total Nutrition.

“Construction will start, hopefully, in November. We’ve already moved some dirt over there,” he said. “Basically, it takes about nine months by the time we move dirt to get everybody in and start working (on the interiors). Depending on how long it takes the tenant to build out their space, it could take a year to open. But we’re thinking nine months.”

That puts the likely timing of the new commercial center’s debut sometime next summer. It will join another Adams Brokerage property that includes Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Zoe’s Kitchen and Big Dog Running Company.

Eyemart is a growing vision chain doing business in more than 30 states, offering eye exams and designer frames.

Willy’s Mexicana Grill is an Atlanta-based chain with 25 outlets, most in metro Atlanta, with one as far south as Peachtree City, and another in Athens, Ga.

I notice they say the Columbus Park expansion next to Kohl's will be developed at some point. Looks like another delay. I thought they were ready to go with it.
