Columbus-seemingly nothing but good press about its growth.

Detroit-seemingly nothing but bad press about its contraction.

Yet somehow, quietly with zero fanfare, Detroit puts a light rail line into operation while Columbus flounders about with nothing decade after decade. Pretty revealing if you ask me.

If we had a 3.3 mile streetcar line along University Avenue in uptown San Diego it would affect the lives of tens of thousands of people in the first few days of operation.

I would be thrilled to have a streetcar on High street as this corridor makes the absolute most sense. The issue is signaling priority. Without it, forget about it.
Look at how many times the street car in Cincinnati has been bogged down by traffic. Saturday night going up or down High street you could walk faster.
Now if we are thinking of going up and down 3rd and 4th street, this might have real potential.

So aren't you arguing that a street car has no actual bearing on a city's success? Let us know when the Q-line stops Detroit's freefall. Let's also wait to see how successful the line really ends up being. There has already been a lot of criticism of the route and implementation.

More discussion on either adding to an existing hotel or building another new one near the convention center. One interesting thing of note is that there may also be a separate redevelopment proposal upcoming for the surface lot on Goodale between the Cap and the new garage.

The 3-story historic building at 377 N. 20th Street in the King-Lincoln neighborhood is being planned for renovation into micro-apartments. Built in 1888 and the site of the Macon Hotel at one time, it has long been abandoned. No information if the ground floor will have retail.

I'm actually a big fan of Detroit and visit quite regularly. Contrary to your assertion there has been a significant amount of national/regional press about the resurgence of Detroit's downtown, midtown and corktown and successful infrastructure projects like it being the largest city in the country to have all LED lighting.

Columbus already has the "Cbus" circulator bus which serves the same exact purpose as the Q-line in Detroit (to shuttle tourists, concert goers and people enjoying nightlife through a compact area of the city). The Cbus covers the same distance if not more than the Q-line. The only difference is the circulator in Columbus is free. It runs every 10-15 minutes seven days a week.

Also I could not care less about San Diego or its inhabitants

Columbus became the 14th largest city in 2016, growing to a population of 860,090 and surpassing Indianapolis, which had a population of 855,164. Columbus was just outside the top 10 fastest-growing cities by numerical change, at just under 10,000 for 2015 to 2016.

3rd and 4th have limited potential ridership because everything is on High St. When you factor in walking over to High St a slower streetcar would still get you there faster and attract way more riders. One way to minimize delays is to spread out stations father apart, like they've done with the 2L. Signal priority should still be done regardless. Well, maybe it could do a little jog from the south end of the Short North to 5th onto 3rd and 4th, which might be faster during rush hour and weekends.
