So basically what you're saying is that you went into a Control Panel applet, diddled around with some settings, and now everything seems whiter and you can't see text or graphics properly...is that correct?
Which goes to prove the old adage, that if you mess with something long enough, you will eventually break it.
I fired up IE and came here and nope, page is much whiter (missing text and graphics including rep points) so its not a browser thing.
Should I do what nezlie recommended?
That would be a good starting point. If it doesn't help, then I would try Asheville's advice about resetting your monitor back to its default settings. This is one of those situations where it's kinda hard to figure out the problem without actually seeing it. Could you maybe take a screen shot and post it for us?
I would try resetting to default if that were an option.

all the tabs - nothing as simple as resetting to default options
Try the System Restore like Nezlie recommended. How long ago did you do all this? You'll want to use a restore point that was created before you changed whatever it was you changed. If System Restore doesn't fix the problem, then let me know and I'll try to remember where you have to go in the Display applet to access your monitor settings. I have Windows 7, so it's all different now. Otherwise I'd be able to look on my own system and tell you how to get there. On my system, there is an applet which refers to the graphics card and that's where you go to adjust all the settings. But I don't know if you have an applet for your graphics card in your Control Panel. If you can take a screen shot (press the Prnt Scrn button at the top of your keyboard) of your Control Panel and post it here, I could tell you if you do or not.
