I'm looking for a desktop computer for my mom. Currently she has a Dell model from 10 plus years ago. She just uses the computer for the internet to look up information, play you tube videos,or for light typing of letters. She doesn't know much about computers so an easy to use simple model would be best and she stated she doesn't want a laptop.
Could anyone suggest a good brand and model that may fit what I'm looking for?
Thank you.

No brand is simpler or easier to use than another. They're all the same. Any desktop PC you buy will easily do what she needs. Get something with an Intel Core i3 CPU and 4GB of RAM and she'll be fine.

This is one of the rare, unique situations where I would recommend a Chromebox. It would do everything you listed that she would want to do, and easier to use that any Windows computer:

Here's an in-depth review of the Samsung Chromebox from The Verge:

And here's TigerDirect's product page where they have it for $329
Samsung Series 3 XE300M22-A01US ChromeBox - Intel Celeron Dual-Core B840 1.9GHz, 4GB DDR3, 16GB SSD, Google Chrome, Black at TigerDirect.com

Good luck!

Buy a PC for 1/3 the price, make her a standard user, and never do tech support again.

Go to Newegg, Tiger direct, Best Buy... Find the cheapest computer you can and buy it.

Just make sure it has 4GB of ram if it's Win 7 machine.

I would buy a modern all-in-one PC. Almost no cabling. Great monitor.

After you buy it, remove all bloatware or any other software she won't use. Install a remote control product like Teamviewer so you can log in if she has questions so you can help her quickly.

The Mac is not easier to use for someone who doesn't have a preconceived notion of using a computer.

I do.

Having spent the last 8 months with a company that did all their design work on a Windows Platform.

Even though Adobe CS 5/6 runs about the same on either platform - I can not get use to the quirkiness and visual mess on a PC.

IT guys are also working on the PCs at least once a week. Never had to call tech support / IT support EVER while using a Mac
